One of the most common phrases I hear from women (and some men) is “I need to lose xxx pounds before focusing on my style.” Or, “I need to drop a size before I buy anything new.”
Ouch.
Everytime I hear these types of phrases I cringe. Look, there is nothing wrong with wanting to eat healthy and take care of your physical body by working out. I am all for that! And I’ve definitely been in the position of wanting to lose some weight and shift my habits.
Yet if you’re holding off on buying anything new or elevating your style until you lose weight, you’re pouring shame all over yourself and not showing up in your highest. You’re telling yourself and your body that you’re not worthy of new things unless you are a certain size.
Ask yourself how long you’ve been waiting.
On the contrary, when you pour love all over your current self and allow yourself to wear things that make you feel confident and powerful and prosperous, you start living from a place of total acceptance. And something really magical happens when you live in that state.
In fact, I’ve had multiple clients release the weight they’ve been “trying” to release after saying yes to their Style Awakening. You can call it a desired side effect of working with me:)
There’s a beautiful mix of self acceptance and purging things that no longer serve you… in your closet and your heart. It’s that release physically and emotionally that allows the release of weight.
The commonality between these clients is that none of them waited to lose the weight before saying yes to awakening their style. They decided to love themselves TODAY, celebrate their bodies TODAY, dress in a way that makes them feel beautiful and confident TODAY.
And in releasing the pressure and shame around losing weight, it happened in Divine time. This is why I always say it’s deeper than the clothes. They are simply a mirror for how you truly feel about yourself.
So if you take one thing with you today, it’s to stop waiting to show up as the woman or man you desire to be. Stop playing that game. Treat yourself with the same amount of love now that you will once you get to a certain size that feels healthy. That is how you shift the reflection in the mirror.
